Dear JEN community,
Many of us are still enjoying the afterglow from our spectacular 2015 San Diego JEN Conference. More than 3,500 people attended and heard fantastic professional and student music groups, inspiring keynote speeches by Herbie Hancock and Wayne Bergeron, attended informative clinics, panels and research presentations, experienced the offerings of our exhibitors and enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones. It was a special gathering!
2016 Louisville JEN Conference – Believe it or not, we are already intently focused on our 7th annual JEN conference in Louisville, Kentucky January 6-9, 2016. We will return to the Galt House, site of our successful 2012 conference. It is a wonderful facility and well suited for our membership. Louisville is a dynamic city and once again will warmly welcome JEN and offer us strong community support. Early Bird Registration is now open and you can secure your discounted rate until September 30th. Reserve your spot and help us spread the word.
Performers and Presenters – Submissions to perform and present clinics, research and industry and business proposals at the Louisville conference are now open through March 31st on our website. All interested in offering their talents and wisdom are encouraged to apply. We strive to be impartial and fair to all applicants and do our best to achieve a well-balanced program for you.
A record number of submissions were received last year. Know that we have a team of dozens of skilled and caring reviewers who carefully and respectfully listen to and review the applications. I offer thanks to the many volunteers who perform this challenging task of organizing and reviewing the hundreds of submissions.
Board Membership – JEN is now accepting nominations for five open Board positions. The Board is responsible for the welfare of the organization. Being on the JEN Board is an honor as well as a major responsibility. Click here to view the Details of Board service.
Many skills that would serve the Board are often found beyond the classroom or the bandstand. Backgrounds in accounting, administration, communication, finances, fund raising, law, marketing, programming, and web design are very important to the functioning of the Board. Potential Board members should be willing to be considered to become Officers at some point in the future. If you have or know of people who have specific skills that would enhance the functioning of the Board, a passion for jazz and jazz education and are willing to roll up your sleeves and make a difference, please click here to nominate or self nominate.
